So I still haven't had time to pull all the detail posts together for the Rock Star Party that I threw for SweetPea's 5th birthday last November (for shame, I know). But since I've had several request for {more} photos, I figured I'd at least show some shots of the grand event, even if I still have a few details to provide later.
So, without further ado....
SweetPea's 5th birthday
ROCK STAR PARTY!
|
Rock Star Party Decorations |
- DIY Tie Dye and Zebra-Striped Cupcakes were so yummy! (see tutorial HERE)
- Streamers across the window added a fun punch of color and movement.
- '80's-style slatted glasses were loved by kids and parents alike! ;)
- Electric Guitar and zebra plates rocked the dining table!
|
Rock Star party Food |
- Rock Star Marshmallow Pops (details seen HERE) were a big hit!
- Pop Rocks were a first for many kids and the Peanut Butter Dazzlers (details HERE) were yummo!
- You'll always find homemade chocolate-dipped pretzels at our parties!
- Color-coordinated chocolate sixlets added a pop of fun color!
And here are a few more details...
I designed the invitations for free using THIS site to create a mock concert ticket (printed out on cardstock). You can customize all sorts of details and it was so fun to send these out!

Customized Concert Tickets were great for invitations! |
The dining table was covered with a white tablecloth topped with a hot pink plastic one (left over from the two-pack I bought at Target last February for Boogey's Mod Monkey Party seen HERE). I placed some zebra-striped wrapping paper (found at the party store) down the middle like a table runner. Color-coordinated streamers were hung from a string across the window.

Rock Star Party Table |
Table settings were a combination of zebra-striped large plates and smaller rock star guitar small plates and napkins (all bought at Target). The cups were plain white paper cups from the party store on which I stuck homemade stickers using THIS file which I chose after winning a gift certificate to Bird's Party shop in an online giveaway. (the vendor graciously edited my version of the file to say "Rock Star" instead of "Pop Diva" as that fit my daughter better).

Rock Star Plates and cups |
Goodie Bags were lined up along the dining room hutch and contained miscellaneous rockin' goodies (Pop Rocks, Microphone- and Guitar-shaped bubbles, Rock Star Tattoos and Stickers, Guitar Pick necklaces, etc.). I bought a variety of colored goody bags from the Party Store (where you can select colors individually). Then I added some embellishment across the top with my scallop-cut scissors.

Another homemade sticker from the file mentioned above was combined with a guitar-shaped sticker which I made myself using my Silhouette machine. The guitar shape was purchased from the Silhouette online store and since it was a print and cut shape, I was able to add the "5" myself before printing it out on sticker paper. I then cut the guitars out of the sticker paper using my Silhouette cutter and came up with some pretty fun homemade stickers!

Homemade Rock Star Stickers glam up the goodies bags! |
I made some tie-dye-ish cupcakes following an online tutorial (see details HERE) while I decorated others with some zebra-striped sugar sheets (bought at Michaels using a 40% off coupon, of course!) cut into circles. Cupcake toppers made from that same file I mentioned earlier (printed the shapes on photo paper and attached to a lollipop stick) added some fun to the display. See the full tutorial on how I made these cupcakes HERE.

Other treats included some homemade Rock Star Marshmallow Pops (see HERE for details)...

{you can see in the photo above that we also purchased some guitar picks from a local music store and scattered around for decoration - a cute addition}
And these Peanut Butter Dazzlers were a big hit! (see details HERE)

Rock Star Cookies |
It turns out my girls have a TON of rock star type t-shirts so I hung them on hangers and placed them throughout the party.

Rock Star T-shirts add fun decor |
Activities included "Pin the Guitar Pick on the Guitar" - I drew a guitar outline on a piece of foam core (that I had recently won in an online giveaway - yay me! ;) and the girls colored it in with markers. Kids got one of those real guitar picks we had bought for decorations and tried to stick them in the right spot on the guitar with a piece of tape. I didn't get any photos of the actual game... but here are the girls coloring away and the finished product...

Another activity was supposed to be a freeze dance but the kids didn't seem interested so we didn't force it. Instead they spent about 15 mintues tossing around some blown up balloons - what is it about little ones and balloons??!! LOL (sorry, again for no pics!). We did have some success with the drum kit we built - what kid doesn't love banging on some drums??
|
Homemade drum kit was a big success! |
We made the drum kit out of empty plastic jugs wrapped in zebra wrapping paper and ribbon. The Heela attached them to a 2x4 and then attached the board to a couple of saw horses hidden by a tarp.

Empty jugs and cans were transformed into drums! |

DIY Drum Kit |
More t-shirts flank the backdrop banner I bought from Oriental Trading (only $10 so not too bad). We sure transformed that garage! Blow up microphones were another big hit with the kids who loved pretending to rock out to the Lemonade Mouth CD we were blasting.

Garage Band in action! |
I guess that is about it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Now to plan Boogey's 4th brithday party for next month.... rainbows, here we come... :)
